How to use the EMB switch? (Regular Version Only)

🔍 Wait? What is the EMB switch?

The "Manual EMB" switch on a golf cart refers to the Manual Electromagnetic Brake. It is used to temporarily disengage the electromagnetic parking brake, allowing the cart to be manually pushed or towed without power.

Specifically, the Manual EMB switch performs the following function:

  • It provides power directly to the electromagnetic brake (EMB) to release it. This allows the wheels to spin freely so the cart can be pushed or towed.
  • It is intended for situations when you need to manually move the cart, such as pushing it out of a tight spot or towing it behind another vehicle.
  • Leaving the Manual EMB switch on (the GREEN “Manual EMB” position on your Rover XL) for an extended period will slowly drain the battery, as it is providing constant power to disengage the brake. Therefore, it should only be used temporarily when manually moving the cart.
  • With the switch in the normal "OFF" position, the electromagnetic brake automatically engages when the cart comes to a stop, preventing it from rolling.

Manually Moving Your Denago Golf Cart Using the EMB Switch

If you need to move your Denago golf cart manually, use the EMB (Electromagnetic Brake) switch to disengage the brake:

  1. Locate the EMB Switch
  2. Lift the front seat. The switch is typically near the battery compartment or controller.

  3. Disengage the Brake
  4. Flip the switch to "Manual" to release the brake. The cart can now roll freely.

  5. Move the Cart
  6. Push or tow the cart as needed. Be careful—the parking brake is disabled, and the cart may roll if left unattended.

  7. Re-engage the Brake
  8. After moving, return the switch to its original position (usually "Off" or "Auto") to restore normal brake function.

Important Notes:

  • Keep the batteries connected—minimal power to disengage the brake.
  • Don’t leave the switch in "Manual" for long periods, as it may drain the battery or damage the brake system.
